Something has been lost in translation over the years. And from my point of view the one on the right needs to go on a big diet![]()

The 'power hump' in the back, which became part of the car's design starting with the 993, is only getting uglier as time passes. I know it makes sense from a wind-tunnel perspective. But that doesn't mean it's beautiful.

What? A German video about me and my car - Huh? The website for my two-car garage
I'm not going to say I "like" it, but I definitely don't hate it.
More than any other manufacturer, Porsche has managed to retain at least a small connection to their roots. I appreciate that...
The Panamera is another story altogether and if every single one disappeared from Earth I wouldn't miss them.

That's what happens when cars get designed by committee instead of one person, everyone wants to have some input in the final product, so it all starts looking 'tacked on'

My eye went immediately left, attracted by the simple perfect beauty of the early car.
Only after did I notice how fat the ass was on the new one.

We are much taller people than in 1963. Every generation of cars must adapt to this. New safety laws, especially the recent ones for front impact/pedestrian, make all cars "fat" looking.
The 911 is aimed to the world market and especially American customers are used to bigger cars and command grow in size.
This is not me who invents this, I heard recently Michael Mauer talking in a car design lecture.
Cars never have been designed by one person, thats a marketing myth.
If you compare a 64 911 next to a 1975 Turbo or 993, the change is already huge.
I think the new 991 is beautiful, at least in Carrera mode but the Carrera 4S 's rear is to large for my taste.
