looking for plastic air cleaner resto tips

I see a ton of plastic air cleaners out there that look pretty nice for their age though it could be photographs not showing the full detail of the plastic- besides the usual spray n' wipe cleaners, any ideas/tricks to freshen up the look of the air cleaner? Plastic ones seem to suffer decades of nicks, scrapes and discoloring- metal is easy enough to powder coat but what can be done to plastic?

    Thanks

I go to Ace hardware and get Krylon paint for plastics.

Another thought is Forever Black. The applicator is like one of liquid shoe polish. I use it on everything black plastic/rubber and it brings the black back to original with a few coats, and you don't need to disassemble to use it (like spray painting). Used it on my air filter, stacks, door pulls, rubber surround for ignition, overriders, and more. The only drag is with the applicator, you can't always get into really tight spaces so you need to use a small paint brush. Just do a search for it.

I also use on the black plastic pieces on my other cars to keep them looking like new.

Kaleid --I would not powder coat air cleaners. When done they retain sand in nooks and crannies. When dislodged into your intake stacks--TROUBLE. Chris

I have used all the 'plastic' spray paints out there, especially for black(call me your Good Housekeeping tester). Best of the Best is the SEM Landau black. Coats the best, lays on the best and dries the correct 'sheen.

I go through many cans when reconditioning plastic trim. No after smell and flexes excellent!
