    Refinish hood latches

I have a 71 that is being refreshed. I'm looking to clean up the hood latches
And the deck lid receivers. I have polished them up and they look good
but the don't look original. Any suggestions?

thanks, do the need to be disassembled or can they be done intact?

The latch part bolted to the panel can be done intact, but the latch bolted to the lids must be disassembled so you can remove the collar the spring sits in, plating will dissolve that.

They should also be done in clear zinc. As Ed says, with many forms of plating remove the ally as it is the acid used to clean the parts that will eat it. Hence door latches, window winders do not stick in the acid! We do also have springs baked after plating but for these parts it is prob not necessary.
