Thread: 2R crankcase Question,

  1. #1

    2R crankcase Question,

Hello, I have crankcase ending in 2R from what I know for my 71 T (C-programme) my case should have a prefix 911 and not 901 and a suffix of 3R when mine it's a 2R.
I am confused sense the crank number seems to be the original but can determine if its correct for a 2.2 since I think that the 2.0 (B-programme) ended in 1R.
Hope can someone can help me clear this.
    Thank You.

    This should help:

I'd love more info for my database; serial #, type #, the R from both sides, and any date code if it can be found.

C program is for 1970 isn't it? If so then that lines up with Dave's dates. Does it have piston squirters? I think that is the key difference 70 to 71. Also, these are casting numbers, not part numbers, hence the 901 vs 911.

Well, this are the numbres in my engine:

    Engine: 6114080
    911/07
    901.101.102.2R
    901.101.101.3R
169/169. Are for the maching crankcase
    Engine has no oil squieters it's a 71 T US version (9111100083)and the plate it's a C programme.

I think all shoul be OK but please let me know if something don't look right.

I think this are all the numbers available in the engine.

Somebody here will know for sure but I think piston squirters started Jan 71 or so. Yours is a pretty early 71MY from all the numbers so that all makes sense.

Edit... Squirters started December 1970 per the service manual.

I also recall a discussion here that many 71's including mine have C-program vin tags when they are D cars.

Is there a D-program VIN tag? I've not seen one yet.

Dave, you know better than me. Come on, tell him what day his car was made!

That has to be the prettiest mag case ever!

This the third early 1971 engine with the 3R/ 2R combo in my database, so no problem with that.

You might be surprised at what I can do, but to the day on 1970 is still a bit beyond me.
