    Carpet questions

    Hi folks,

Saturday morning questions for the brain trust. I ordered a carpet set from GAHH, since they are the source of the material that most of the respected restorers use. The Haargarn salt and pepper is perfect, as are the backings of the floor pieces (although the circles are slightly smalleer than original on the jute backing). There are a couple of things that are clearly not right though and they have offered to put them right. But I need some help to provide them with the details.

Q1: The straps are obviously wrong. They should be be narrower with a triangle tip and a rivet button holding them in place. Can somebody tell me if the straps were leather or plastic ? I would have thought leather since the rear seat straps look similar. And if leather, are they dyed on the top and natural on the bottom like the rear seat straps ?

Q2: The material GAHH use in the front is pebbled, not ribbed. There should be matching ribbed material on the centre tunnel piece, but there isn't. Can somebody post a pic with dimensions so they can recreate that ? In photographs in the car, the ribbed piece on the tunnel goes even with the end of the ribbed section on the floor piece. But I know the front of this ribbed piece doesn't go all the way to the nose of the tunnel piece.

Any help appreciated. I've combed the pictures on the whole web site and can't quite find what i need.

    thanks
    Ravi

    Ravi,

Here are some pics of the Haargarn set from Autobahn Interiors. Ribbed section on the tunnel piece starts about 4 inches in from the top and ends about 13 3/4 inches in. If I recall, these measurements were pretty close to the originals. Also, straps are leather and pointed at the ends.

Thank you Marco. Exactly what I was looking for. Autobahn and Autos Intl buy the material from GAHH, so I thought I'd get the whole kit from them. Its well made, but as noted there are some differences from original. ANother one is that the cardboard backer pieces are glued on, not sown on.

The straps on my original rubber mats are leather: happy to post photos if of any use. Let me know.

Yes please. Want to know if they are dyed on both sides or just the top side.
