WTB: One Velocity Stack - for Weber 40IDA

Doing some engine detailing on my 911 and found a cracked and broken Velocity Stack. Anyone have one in their spares bin they could part with?

I an surprised that your 67 used the plastic stacks. Even if that were correct I would be tempted to run the metal ones, they look cooler too. FWIW my carbureted T engine used to boil the fuel out when hot and melt the secondary venturis. A supposed fix for this is the plastic carb spacer/insulators from PMO.A whole set of stacks shoudnt be too spendy. Steve

Hello Steve, I'm new to 911 ownership having purchased my October 1965 911 about 8 weeks ago. The PO had the matching numbers engine rebuilt in about 1990 and used an early 911S top shroud in the rebuild which may have led you to believe the car is a 67. I am trying to bring the car back to original so a black top shroud is on my list of needs, but that will be for later. For this summer, I am giving the car a good tune-up and cleaning, fitting a few of the trim parts that are missing, and driving the out of her.

If a plastic stack is avail, I am interested......

Two things you might consider, installing a set of carburetor insulators separating the carb from the cylinder head and buying a set of metal stacks. Maybe it's a current California gasoline problem, but fuel instability seems to be causing fuel boiling over and carb fires. I was at a friends shop this week and he had a set of webers with the plastic stacks melted into the carbs. I bought a perfectly fine set of six steel stacks on ebay for about $100.

    Good luck

All of mine have been metal. I've seen plastic but wouldn't think it would be the best idea in an environment where backfires can occur.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I am new to the early 911 scene and have learned much here. A set of metal V stacks and insulators will be on my short list. Tom, I better get back in the garage with the carb cleaner before we get together. My carbs aren't nearly that clean!
