    Welding alum rear deck lid

I've got an early S deck lid that is in great shape with a few exceptions: the center brace has been cut out and it has a few tears in the frame and a hole in it for a racing hold down post.

I've found a replacement center brace. However, I have been turned down flat at every auto welder I have approached to fix. There has to be someone out there who has the skills required to put this piece back on the road?

    Suggestions?

Hi, we can do that for you but we are in the UK. I would have thought finding some one with a Tig would not be that hard.

    Hope you get it sorted.

Found lots of folks with Tig -- just none that want to take it on... yet. I will stop by a hotrod shop today.

    Hi Gene,

As a former NOVA resident I have been thinking about who in the area might be able to help. The guys at Electrodyne may be able to lead you to the right person, http://www.electrodyne.cc/company/visitus.shtml Or you might want to head out the Air and Space restoration facility by Dulles and see who they know. Certainly, some fine aluminum welding going on out there.

    Good luck,

    Brad

Thanks! I didn't think of those two. Electrodyne is not too far from my office.

I will go by the Udvar Hazy this weekend.
