    1973 Tow Hook

Does anyone know if the 914 and 911 tow hooks for the 70-73 period were the same item?

    Thanks.

70-73 PET lists a Tow Lug 901 506 031 01, I don't know if it is a trailer hitch or the lug your asking about.

They are welded to the chassis, one under the left rear fender and the front under the bumper.

Funny how the factory pictured the wrong jack in the trunk in front of the tank. This seems to prove that there are no absolute answers as to what tools are correct for each year. Show that to the concours judges.

From his ad in the classified, he is looking for the later type tow hook that screws into the bumper.
I always considered the other ones more of a tie down hook, not a tow hook.

The factory call it a tow hook. You can use it as a tie down, all these are only meant to pull you out of a ditch or for a tow truck to pull the car up the ramp. The screw in didn't come in until the impact bumper in 74. There is a cover in the bumper you pull off and insert the hook.

I was looking for the one that screws into the rear bumper once the rubber plug is removed. I always thought they were part of the toolkit, but I may be wrong on this. ESully thanks for the illustration,,,, that looks like the tow hook, but I did not know they were attached to the front undercarriage. Okay, it is time to hit the books on this some more.
