    NOT MINE.

Paul's car. I'm kinda thinking that if I sell my RS, I will buy this. Not sure I can live without an early 911 anymore...tough decision.

I do love this car. Drives bitchen. Cool orig. car with great history. tempted.

Certainly an interesting example and seems fairly priced for a dealer asking price. I'm afraid I'm sufficiently cynical as to assume that means there's more to this '73 T than just an engine that has grown by the displace of a cup of coffee. : )

I just wish these cars would show up for sale by the private owner instead of landing in the broker inventory and half their history is lost and questions like "wipers?" are answered in less than crystal clear vision.

Still, if I understand the protocol here correctly, this is the digested text, just for the record, capturing the claimed VIN.

    1973 Porsche 911 T Coupe with 2.7 2-Owner/Original Paint

The ’73 model year (2.4L) Porsches are fast becoming one of the more sought after long-hood cars due to being the last year of production and the larger engine. It is even harder to find clean (non-S) examples that are in excellent condition but not closer to the $100,000+ price range. Plus, to find one with only 2-owners, documented history, and original paint is becoming nearly impossible.
This car was delivered new at a Porsche dealership in San Francisco, CA. The original owner drove it for 4-years and then traded it back in to the dealership. The current owner purchased it on June 17th, 1977 from the same dealership. He used the car as his daily driver for the next 5-years until the car had 91,700 miles on it. His mechanic, at the time, convinced the owner it was time to rebuild the engine. Since this was his daily driver and he needed the car, the mechanic agreed to build a whole new motor from scratch using a near new ’72 911 case (late production case that is only a few months off the build date of this 911’s original engine). Next, since the owner’s in-laws were from Stuttgart, they ordered all new engine parts directly from Porsche including Weber carbs and 2.7 Mahle Pistons. The parts were then delivered to the new mechanic who performed all the necessary updates and eventually finished the engine. Once completed, he removed the original engine and installed the new one. The original engine stayed with the owner until he sold it about 6-years ago. We have located the engine and it is complete except it had an oil issue and threw a rod through the case. This engine is available for an additional fee.
    Engine Build Details:
    Machine work by Competition Engineering
Sport muffler from Alan Johnson Racing
    Chain tensioners
    ’73 RS Carrera distributor
    2.7 Mahle pistons
    Weber 40 IDA Carburetors
    Factory S Cams
    Aluminum 911 S front brakes
    Recent service:
    New lower ball joints
New Bilstein shocks and struts all the way around
    New sway bar bushings
    Turbo tie rods
    New front wheel bearings
    Complete brake system overhaul
    Stainless braded braided brake lines
    Exhaust cam cover turbo update
Major service: adjust valves, spark plugs, torque cylinder heads, check valve springs, clean valve covers/new gaskets, clean distributor/new points, new fan belt, etc.
In total, the current owner spent over $8,000 recently maintaining this 911.
Furthermore, we just had TLG Auto of North Hollywood go through the mechanicals, fix oil leaks, and repair the carbs. The bill was over $2,000.
The original paint looks great for the age with minimal signs of wear. The front left corner by the headlight was touched up due to a small dent before the current owner purchased the car. The dealership blended the paint half way up the fender. The 1973 date stamped cookie cutter wheels are wearing new Bridgestone tires. Most of the glass is original except the windshield that was just replaced. We removed the original windshield to repair the dash. The glass had a chip in it. We feared it might break if reinstalled. It is available with the car.
The interior looks equally nice and is also very original. The original door panels are in great condition with new aluminum trim on the pockets. The original carpet looks lightly used. The headliner and visors are also original. The seats were recently restored using the correct German vinyl with the correct houndstooth covers from Sierra Madre. Juan Ortiz restored the original dash so it looks new with no cracks, tears, or warping. The original Blaupunkt radio does not work, but we have a hidden iPod player with removable speakers behind the seats.
This Porsche comes with a spare, jack, tool kit, owner’s manuals, extra keys, Certificate of Authenticity, and most repair receipts.

We took this car on consignment from the owner who has had it since 1977. He is a personal friend of mine through our local Orange Coast PCA chapter which I've been an active member for 15 years now (including serving on the board).
All the information on the car was from over 35 years worth of receipts I personally went through as well as several discussions with the owner (read as first hand account). So, no history lost.

BTW, the vin# is verified in several photos and the COA.

    I hope this helps

PS I think the ownership history, records, condition, and mostly original paint are the highlights of this example.

1966 BMW 1600 (one of first in U.S.)
1967 VW Beetle Sedan (Honeymoon car)
    1984 Porsche 928S (Hindenburg)
    1986/1973 Backdated 911 Coupe (R Gruppe/La Tortuga)
    1987 Isuzu Impulse RS Turbo
    1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S
1999 BMW M Coupe (Race soon to be Rally)
    2003 Jaguar S-Type R Supercharged (family hauler/rain car)
    2004 Porsche 996 GT3
2005 Chevy Express 16-passenger van (for hauling everything else)
