Porsche,Dealership or just me being a thight ass

Contacted the dealership that I have used for years, on avilabilty and pricing on some sheet metal. I recive jobber pricing. I provide the most recent part numbers that I can come up with, I have an old PET 6 program. Recived a fax back all the part numbers I provided were good and still avilable, however they were out of Germany.
I was totaly into the price for the RS quarters and fender. Then I noticed that there was a freight charge, close to a $1000.00. I contacted the dealer and told them that I would be picking the parts up. I live about 275 miles one way from the dealership. I was told the the freight charges were for the freight from Germany.
About two months ago I had ordered a front cowel/windshield frame and a rear crossmember/latch pannel both had to come from Germany and were in very large boxes. no extra freight charges then.
So I guess Iam asking if this is a common dealership thing or if its Porsche or me just being a wine ass. I would think that at what Porsche charges for thier sheet metal this freight would be covered. May be a couple other shops here in the U.S. can fill me in. Iam thinking that a 15% surcharge is maybe a bit extreame.

I thought that Porsche picked up the freight for parts orders... but i never ordered anything bulky... maybe a call to PCNA to ask what policy is would be the best thing to do?

I've never paid freight on large parts from Germany picked up at the dealer. I hope this hasn't changed!

I recently checked on a complete one piece floor pan section from Porsche - to be shipped from Germany, they gave me a retail price, my discount and no shipping charges. Some dealerships like my local one likes to charge lots of money to do business with them. I learned years ago to find a different source.
