I recall a DIY pump overhaul thread, either here or on Pelican. It struck me as "4 out of 5 wrenches" in difficulty.

My '73 is a CIS that was converted to Webers decades ago. The original went out and I found a Bosch replacement. That only lasted 1 year and it's no longer available. I'm tempted to put a Holley race pump and a Fram filter on the car. Any other suggestion?

EDIT: I think you meant the fuel pump, not the MFI pump ? Generally, rebuild of the fuel pump is not recommended, but here are the specs.
901.608.105.00 (Bosch # 058097 0001), it is rated as
1.0 bar (14.2 psi), 125 liters/hour, 3.5A @ 12V, 2800 rpm,
safety pressure relief at ~2 bar (28 psi).

MFI is certainly rebuildable. Takes someone who knows what they are doing and the proper test equipment to set it up.
Here's mine, before and after. Only thing new are the high pressure fuel lines. Everything else was stripped, recoated correctly and reassembled. That's a factory original MFI test rig that the restored pump is running on.

I think fuel pump refers to the electric fuel pump. The spec for this pump is specific for MFI, Carbs, and CIS. The MFI fuel injection system also has an injection pump which distributes the fuel to the injectors.
Fuel Injection Corp rebuilds the Bosch electric fuel pump.
Gus at Pacific Injection, Henry Schmidt, Mark Jung on this board and others can rebuild and calibrate the injection pumps. Fairchild used to provide this service but I have not heard anything about them in years, still around?
