    French title
    Chassis n° 911.360.1115
    Engine n° AT 663 0900

    - Genuine Carrera 2.7 RS
    - In the same family between 1975 and 2007
    - Maintained by Michel Baumet since 1975
    - Eligible for numerous historic racing events
    - Private Porsche with excellent racing provenance

This Porsche 2.7 Carrera RS is undoubtedly one of the most successful examples to have been campaigned privately. It is a Touring version, originally fitted with a 911 interior. Presented in ivory, it was sold new to Bernard Dulcy, an amateur racing driver, who had gained experience driving different Renault models : primarily a Dauphine 1093 and later an Alpine berlinetta. He was therefore accustomed to rear-engined cars and it is easy to understand the appeal of the Carrera RS. Between 1975 and 1979 he competed in numerous international rallies with co-driver Jean-François Bagarry, achieving excellent results for a driver without factory support. The team participated four times in the Acropolis Rally, twice in the Monte Carlo Rally, twice in Rally Poland, the East African Safari Rally in 1978, Rally Portugal, Rally Roumania, the 1978 Mediterranean Tour rally, and the 1979 Ivory Coast Rally. One of the most outstanding team performances was in the 1975 Monte Carlo Rally. During the St-Barthélémy - St-Michel-les-Portes special stage, Dulcy came fifth, just behind important pilots like of Sandro Munari (Lancia), Jean-Pierre Nicolas (Alpine), Marrku Alen (Fiat) and Hannu Mikkola (Fiat). The accompanying file includes many articles on this active and outstanding period.

Following the 1979 season, the intrepid Porsche was stored away by Bernard Dulcy in Avignon. It has been regularly maintained, since 1975, by Michel Baumet Automobiles, a marque specialist with an excellent reputation based in Morières-lès-Avignon. In 1992, Dulcy decided to restore the car, entrusting it to the workshop of Franck Alesi, father of Jean Alesi. Numerous elements of the original body were conserved during the restoration. Work carried out included a repair to the bonnet and repainted rear bumper guards, with the exterior conforming to the original version, in Grand Prix White with red lettering on the sides, boot-lid and famous duck tail spoiler. The polished alloy rims with red spokes were the correct model, being 7 inches at the front and 8 inches at the rear. The interior was fitted out in the style of the lightweight version, with correct carpet, black fabric bucket seats and racing steering wheel.
The engine in the car bears the number AT 663 0900. Supplied by Stuttgart, this would have been a standard exchange carried out sometime between 1976/1977, in principal with the original engine (n°663 1092) rebuilt at the same time. According to the previous owner, the transmission (n°7831060) is set up for racing and the rear axle has limited-slip differential.

When Bernard Dulcy died, his son inherited the car. He sold it in 2007 to an enthusiast who offered the car at auction in 2008, the date it passed into the hands of our collector, a former rally driver who valued cars with good racing history. He fitted a stainless steel exhaust to improve the quality of the sound, and has had the car regularly maintained by Michal Baumet, confirmed by invoices that accompany the car. These bills show that the brakes have been completely refurbished, the running gear adjusted and other minor work carried out. In 2011, the owner took part in Tour Auto and arriving at the finish in Biarritz, he returned by road to Paris, in the best traditions of 'privateers' in period !
A collection of spares comes with the car : four alloy wheels (6 inch and 7 inch), a driver's seat, harnesses, a steering wheel and several old Cibié lights. It also comes with a file containing invoices, articles, rally signs and photos documenting its full life.
Eligible for many historic events, this is a " private " Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 that has one of the best track records. An important model, it also has a history that makes it one of the best 911s on the market, which is bound to attract the attenton of rally car enthusiasts.

I find it very intresting that it had the S spoiler, instead of the usual RS front cooler GFK bumper. My question is, did not all come with the front oel cooler bumper ?

    This one even has bumperettes.

Which is confirmed by the unique stamping above the VIN in the tank support. Until recently I though this additional stamping was indicative of a replacement chassis, but a very knowledgeable good friend told me this was seen on other French delivered Carreras. Still learning.

    I stand corrected then.

I should have said "based on what three of the 'name brand' experts in RSs in both and Europe and the number French cars that knowledgable friends or I looked at before buying my French RS, I accepted what the experts told me and concluded that all French-delivered RSs had the same extra line on the title stamp on the body among several other things that differentiated them from all other RSs.

But there is no truer axiom than that anything is possible.

Begs the question: Does the incorrect bumper hurt or enhance the value?
