It has '68 gages, but no elephant hide. I suppose the VIN would hold the answer.

I've seen early 68's with the 67 trim, also a 67S with 68S gauges. I assume Don knows what he has though.

Not much left but a VIN and COA with neat options. Has Zenith carbs... makes you wonder if the engine is original.

Once media blasted you will be left with the rear wiper and a stearing wheel. This is a job for Canford Classics.

VIN = 11800722 so it's a '68. (VIN is shown on the Kardex in the pics.)

Look at the water marks! I'll bet it was half submerged in a slough.

The humane thing would be to put a bullit through the block, save the VIN plate but, destroy the VIN stamp and production number and then part out whatever is left. It is a sporto after all.

68 wheels, deck lid and grill. Looks like a 68 rear view mirror as well.

I may be misreading this but I think the owner is offering $45,000 to anyone who will take it off his hands. Where do I sign up?

Guys I should have added more information. I will update the Pelican posting. It is a special order 68S with 16 factory options that include a full leather interior hence the 67 style door panels. Porsche could not do the 68 style panel in leather. It is an original Black car with that custom bone leather sport seat interior. The original engine was replaced and of the other options are present. The car was a New Hampshire field find and it is probably the most rough 911S that I have come across however I have not ever seen one so special ordered. Much rougher 356s have been saved so this could make sense to do if not now in the near future. Thanks.

What country was the car originally sold in since the 911S model was not imported by Porsche North America into the U.S. for the 1968 MY? And when did it get imported into the U.S.?
