Ice Age - Great Lakes Edition

This has been the best winter season in quite some time here in the Great Lakes region. This recent satelite photo really tells the tale Reminds me of the winters in the 60s and 70s. Superior, Huron, and Erie are basically frozen over. I could drive straight across Lake Huron to Canada at this point. OK, the lake is 100 miles wide, but still far shorter than using one of the bridges

This is I-20 looking east towards Vicksburg,MS in Louisiana. Not a car/truck in sight They have the bridge closed down, again.

I wonder if they ever broke loose that ship that was stuck in the ice in Antarctica?

This showed up for ice racing last weekend, complete with snow tires. It did not fare too well ....

These pics are yesterday, near Grand Marais and some of the stage roads for our Magnum Opus Rally. I love winter and snow, but this is beginning to push even my limits Luckily, we moved the rally from an April date to June last year.

299 inches (with 56 inches still on the ground) in the Keewenaw. So far. Keewenaw Snow Report
