    This is Salt

I've got what appear to be geological salt formations on my garage floor this winter You can imagine what the underside of the daily drivers looks like if this is what drips off of them. Nasty stuff. This why the 911 hibernates during winter months in a separate heated garage at my shop

Michigan. Yesterday I thoroughly washed the daily driver and then drove about 20 miles on completely dry highways. Avoided a couple of wet areas where snow was melting. Got home and the car was covered with salt dust

Curt, when I lived up there some of the car washs recycled their water. So you washed the caked salt off with saltwater, and sprayed it into crevices it had not found its way into naturally. Nasty stuff. Best to verify a fresh water supply before use.

You know Michigan has it's own salt mines. Seriously. You can't get away from it up there.

Yeah, there's massive salt deposits and mines under Lake Huron and parts of Michigan. My problem is the garage is starting to look like one of them! The problem this winter is it's been snowing consistently throughout the winter, so they're dumping salt what seems like every other day.

If you have a heated garage the salt/slush melts off the car and salt "vapors" actually form penetrating the nooks and crannies of the car
