I too shared the same luck but it was with a hundred year old Elm and an Audi 200 Turbo.

On my Dad's birthday, July 15th.

At the last minute I moved our car into the garage and made him wait about 5 minutes more before we left our farm to eat in town for his birthday.
While eating, we had a freak hundred mile an hour wind come up, destroy some neighbor's empty grain bins by blowing them across the highway, and took down our elm across the driveway to our yard where the lucky Audi once sat.

    And,
    I STILL don't gamble

I can top that. This garage had two early 911s--an S and T in it when the tree hit. The cars were virtually untouched.

something to be said for a brick sidewall garage and what appears to be 2X8 rafters of fairly new material

My contractor said the bricks saved the cars. But they paid the price. I did get a nice new garage and fence out of it.Name: virginia 164.jpg
