    Fs: @ec - '67 's' swt . . .

    VIN = 500190S
    Eng# = 962149
    Trans# = ?

    . . . Highly coveted as a top-specification 911 S from the inaugural model year, this 1967 Porsche 911 S is even more desirable and rare as one of just 483 produced for the first year of the Targa’s availability. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and the corresponding Porsche Kardex document provided by Le Mans-winning Porsche racer and marque expert Jürgen Barth, this 1967 911 S Targa was built on March 1, 1967, and originally finished in Polo Red with black leatherette upholstery. Dunlop tires and tinted windshield and side glass were the car’s factory-original options. Shipped to the US, this 911 S Targa was delivered new through Porsche of America (PoAC) in Teaneck, New Jersey. Interestingly, the original owner is recorded on the Kardex as none other than eventual 11-time US rally champion John Buffum. In addition to scoring 117 national rally wins during his career, Mr. Buffum also contested select European rallies to great effect, including the world-famous 1969 Monte Carlo Rally with a Porsche 911 . . .

    . . . The recipient of a complete nut-and-bolt restoration with thorough detailing in 2010 by Classic Showcase, this outstanding example then joined a prestigious private sports car collection, where it remained until it was acquired by the consignor last year. The body is laser-straight and all gaps are consistent. It is believed that early in the car’s existence, the original engine, numbered 961438, was replaced by a California-based Porsche dealer with a correct 901/02 911 S-specification unit. It should be noted that the serial number of the currently installed engine, 962149, falls within the documented engine-number range for 1967 and very nicely maintains this car's integrity . . .

    We're on the bump stops, so I think we should deflate the rear tires.
