Is anyone aware of a bi-modal exhaust for early 911?
You know, where you press a button and the muffler part is bypassed so you can enjoy the unadulterated flat 6 exhaust note?

I apologize in advance for this smart ars response.........but REALLY ? Are you seriously asking this question?...These are 40 + year old cars not your new 2015 991 with sport exhaust selector button on the dash.
If you want a nice quite muffler, it will take about 30 minutes to install a factory muffler...If you want the "unadulterate flat 6 exhaust note" it will take you another 30 minutes to install any number of sport style exhausts.
You could also buy the muffer (can't think who makes it) ...where you can remove and install caps to make it street or track sounding
Maybe I am the idiot and I never looked far enough down the options list to find the push button exhaust changer....I will try and remember to double check the list tonight....not
Yeah, not so keen to spend 30 minutes on the side of the road with a spanner to go from quiet to unadulterated when I feel like it and the opportunity arises when I could press a button. Pretty simple technology and could as easily have been done in 1969, about as complicated as an automatic antenna (you know, those crazy devices that go up and down when you turn the radio on and off when you could just as easily pull over, get out, pull the aerial up with your hand, get back in and listen to the radio and then vice versa when you turn the radio off). And about 3000 times simpler than the optional sporto which uses about 40,000 parts to eliminate flexing of the left ankle.
Just asking, each to their own :)
what is this mythical device a 'radio(?)' you speak of.....don't understand. I thought the music comes from the muffler you are discussing
Touché sir.
yes, there are electrically actuated add-ons that do this - you'll need to do your own plumbing
or buy a Boxster Sport muffler and adapt it to your car...
Thanks
I better not mention the other things I've done or plan to do to enhance the driving experience without detracting from it - like my Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio upgraded to 4 channel internals and Bluetooth - I might get burned at the stake!
Or the electric AC...
Or my desire to convert MFI to EFI...
I think the Rennshift is acceptable?
