If you're curious, that's not anal. If you go outside and duplicate the perfect factory layout with your tool kit, then that IS anal.
You're on the wrong site if you are worried about being TOO anal. Not a chance! Most of us labor over much more important minutia like bolt head markings, stitching, seat perforations.... the list goes on and on. ;)

Ohh, now that I want to hear about. And since it's Merc-related, it's not anality, it's perfectionism.
I had a 356 concours judge answer that question by telling me to look at the drivers manual for the correct order. Is there a picture in your 911 manual showing the tool placement??
