Results from fender removal - minimum rust
I consider myself very lucky,
I'm in the process of doing a color change and started removing the doors, fenders, glass etc.. so I can begin working on the shell to prep it for paint. And in the 7 plus years that I've owned this car I can honestly say that I've removed/replaced more parts on this car than I care to think about, but up until now I never touched the fenders.
Considering that this car is from the North East you would expect a lot more surprises than this but it's safe to say that this car was well cared for. The only rust-through area that I found was on the inner portion of the left fender where it's attached to the body of the car. It's in the wheel well area and not visible from the outside so I won't touch it. Even the undercoating look very good which I'll most likely leave alone.
I still have a long way to go before this car sees any paint, not to mention the fact that my tranny has a couple of synchros that need to be replaced.
Yep, consider myself lucky:D
