Hey All,
I have a technical question that is slightly troublesome. The oil pressure gauge on my 66 seems to be pegged at the max at all times. No fluctuations or in a range that seems appropriate. The needle just pegs out against the top and there it sits. Turns out my oil level gauge does the same thing. Any thoughts? Bad sending units?
Do they stay pegged when you pull the wires off the sending units?
When the gauge is unwired they should both be at the bottom. From my 356 experience it seems your gauge needs a rebuild.Quote:

my hotrod had a '79 3.0l, the car is a '72.....on my car(s), detaching the pressure sender pegs the gauge at full (140psi), turns out the car has the '79 vintage sender, calibrated to 5 bar, but the gauge is 10 bar....I found a 10 bar sender with the correct threads, and will be installing it in the next day or 2, should fix the excessive oil pressure readings I've been getting.
