It could be worse; backdating wouldn't be obnoxiously difficult and you could recoup plenty of $$$ from the flares, bumpers, wing, etc. Too bad it has a '75 motor in it. If it were numbers matching, it's a project I'd tackle.
I wonder if you get a ride in the helicopter with the winning bid?
I know that 90% of the early car fanatics around here are convinced that only coupe bodies are suited to race. They are the original solid shape, and they sure look the part, but look at how many Speedsters, Spyders, etc. were raced successfully, not to mention all the Italian and British open cars that have been competitive in their classes since the 50's, flexy frame and all.
So I am observing that we are much harsher with a race-look targa, than we would be with a coupe of the same vintage. I think this car was the victim of an era when a LOT of early cars were sacrificed in attempt to appear newer. NOW we are doing just the opposite... Who can say 10 years hence>>>?
