Sound familiar?
I found a 67S Soft Window Targa for sale in the NE that is "restored to perfection", "all correct and original with matching numbers", but no kardex proof according to the owner. Gulf Blue.
Asking price $85k - cough, cough, choke choke, how much??? He is 100% serious on his asking price and tried to convince me that I didn't understand the market.
Anyone know this car?? Am I missing something?
Sounds like the same car I saw at Hershey year before last. It really looked as close to perfect as anything I've seen. The rumored asking price was $65k then.
The car has been for sale for over a year;as a matter of fact it was on e bay;I offered him $45,000 for it sight unseen ;he thought I was trying to take advantage of him,I did see photo's which he wanted back........he's a little eccentric to say the least.He's the one who doesn't understand the market
When I first started looking for a car, I talked to him as well. This was last summer - maybe in July. He said smugly, "do you know how much this car is worth?" I told him I didn't know. He told me he was selling it for $85K. I said it was more than just a bit out of my pricerange. End of conversation.
Apparently it is out of everyone else's price range as well. :rolleyes: :p

Why not ask Rick Cabell, or John Willhoit how much it costs to restore one of these to a VERY high standard....
He may be high now.....but time will catch up to it....

For $85,000, I could find a 911S soft window targa in crappy shape, refurbish it to that same concours level, and have enough money left over to buy a 911S coupe, which I'd rather be driving in the first place.
This Erich is agrees with Erik, the soft window s is only going up.
Resto-cost point well taken, but that is the case with almost any vintage car. Value is not determined by the cost to restore, but by supply and demand.
That sweet S is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
It's been about 2 years - and nobody has ponied up yet. It's overpriced for today's market IMHO... but more flat six power to him if he gets it!
