Requesting recommendations for a new muffler for my '72 911T.
My preference is for one that looks and sounds original, but one that will not become unsigthly due to rust.
Does anyone make/sell a good quality and fit stainless piece?
Thanks

Forgot to mention that I've researched the board's archives, and have read that the S/S Monty is highly rated by many, however, it reportedly has a negative affect on MFI's low and mid-range performance? This wouldn't be ideal for me as most of my driving is around town where I want the low and mid-range power and torque.
Suggestions?
How's your budget? I understand that stainless Leistritz (sp?) is still available, but $uper $pendy. A better financial option may be stock, but have it ceramic coated before installing it? I've never found a "heat resistant" rattle can paint that lasted long.
any leads on where I can find more info on the S/S Liestritz?
You might send Chuck Miller a PM. If memory serves, it was he who mentioned them in an earlier muffler thread that I can't seem to find now. $uper $pendy if I recall...well over a grand. Anyway, Chuck might know.

Thanks, sent you an email requesting more info.
Thanks for the tip, Steve! Anyone else want to share their experience with Monty's MFI-specific muffler?
I spoke to Monty about this (he's based in Oz) and he refers to it as a 6 baffle muffler. I had another monty on my 2.7 MFI which had BAD flat spots below 4000rpm. I swapped mine for a factory Leistritz that was on a car I bought and they completely went away (engine dyno'd at 201 rw hp).
I guy I know with a real 73RS was having the same problem and he had the 6 baffle monty fitted and his problem also went away. It has a slightly bigger outlet than a standard muffler (but not a big ricey drain pipe) and sounded pretty cool. I would have bought one if the L'z hadn't fallen into my lap.
I've since converted the L'z into a Rallye syle (2 centre outlets with removable caps which i'm fitting next weekend).
My old monty went onto a 2.4CIS motor and worked like a charm.
Hope this helps.
Here's my solution. Dansk original from AutoFarm. Works well. Sounds great.
