My car (302596) was produced on Nov 3 of 1965. I have 2 sets of steel wheels and I want to restore/chrome one set. Should I use the 05/65 or the 11/65's? Thanks in advance,

You have a car Mfg. in Nov 1965, and wheels Mfg on Nov 1965 and you want to know which to use?
Is this a trick question?
Not at all. I also would have originally thought 11/65, but then I was told the correct wheel date code should be 3-6 months before the production date of the car, which would make the 5/65's 'more' correct. This supposedly allowed for a time gap between the wheel production date and the shipping to Porsche before the cars were produced. Hence my question. Hey, maybe 09-10/65 is the right answer. Not a big deal either way, but I'm only going to restore one set. Just wondered how others out there matched up.
most cars I have looked at original date coded wheels, appear to be made 2-3 months ahead of the manufacture of the car.
Personally on one car I owned, the steel wheels were manufactured with a date code of 3 wheels made in June and two wheels made in July. On a August built car picked up at the dealer and no known monkey business with the wheels.
I think the November date would be a real rare event to precipitate a wheel made just in time for a Nov. 3 built car.
my 2 cents
