The glass on my original small Durant needs replacing, I have replaced on the larger Durant with the plastic gasket but this one doesn't have one. Do you just break the glass and glue a new piece in? Thanks for your help.

Never got a response and my mirror is gone.
Thanks Mike. I will do some more digging around & report back to the forum if I get anywhere.
I guess the correct method would be to carefully expand the stainless outer which holds the bevelled edge mirror, I have tried that, with no success.
A less correct method is to get a new piece cut with a nice soft edge bevel and attach it straight over the existing mirror
Agree Chris. That was also the view of many on the 912 forum
Looking at the edge of the metal holding the glass, my feeling is that only some sort of special metal pressing tool could lift the edge enough (0.5mm I guess) all the way around to remove & replace the glass and then fold the metal back down smoothly. Maybe something similar to the tool used to remove & re-insert the chrome bezels on instruments.
Maybe, take the ball peen to remove old mirror and then..
Micrometer to measure diameter with care. Search for a reputable outfit that can cut a diameter .0010" under the diameter of the metal surround.
How do you replace the mirror on a large durant? Any specific directions, very interested.I need to do this.
Thanks David
