In going thru the many carpet threads, I see that Appbiz doesn't rank high. But nobody gives any specifics.
Why are other brands or places better? (This is for a DIY install BTW). Thx

I think the Appbiz stuff is fine for the price. The quality of the materials isn't what you'll get when you pay someone else a bunch more money but that's to be expected.
by material quality do you mean density? or a more perfect match to the original color(s), or edge binding, or...?
There is nothing wrong with the Appbiz product, but most here are restoring or maintaining fairly original cars. The correct carpet is a very expensive wool called Hargaarn (pepper and salt) and is a deep, lush, heavy stock. It's tricky to work with and does not stretch. A full set of this stuff is about $1k The Appbiz is a synthetic perlon thats pretty easy to work with and the base stock inexpensive sot the overall price reflects this. It's closer to the carpet used in later cars, and a great solution for the average daily driver. But it's just not right for the early cars if something close to stock is wanted.
I was pretty happy with Lakewell.com
