Hi All
I'm currently rebuilding the rear hubs on my 68 - I bought the car "deconstructed" so I'm not sure of the reassembly... I have everything new or replated/painted including bearings seals and bushes but I'm hoping someone has a blow-up or good photos of the hub so I can get the order right? I'm just awaiting a pair of CV inner hubs to replace the Nadella units and then I can get into it.
Any help/advice gratefully received!

I thought Nadellas were only used 65-66?

I do indeed have the 904 LSD (68L), but also have the uber rare "female" CV flanges :) I'm also toying with preserving the 904 ZF LSD and using a Guard LSD which will allow me to use standard flanges (or any flange I specify). I parted with the uber, uber rare reinforced Nadellas originally with the car for a greater purpose.
Anyone got some photos of their disassembled early hubs?
The description and picture you need is in the first edition shop manual.

68 cars used a different lobro flange than a 67. It depends upon which diff you use as to which flange will work. I am guessing that the Guard LSD will not accept 68 flanges, though. I can take pictures of the different flanges, but I don't see what good it will do.

Here are pictures of 64/65/66/67 Lobro flanges and 68 Lobro flanges. Pictures really don't tell the whole story. There is no way in the world to interchange these 2 flanges.

I learned a lot from some of your previous posts on the early gearboxes and flanges along with some advice from JonB - the range of differences is mind boggling! I understood that Guard can build their LSDs to receive a range of drive flanges, so I wasn't too concerned there. My car will be used on the track and I've been told by many that the first ZF LSDs (such as the 904 unit) were quite weak, hence my factoring in the use of a Guard.
My car's 901/2 box definitely has its 904 ZF LSD and originally had the thick racing Nadellas. I made a concious decision to part with the Nadellas (as used in the early racing 911s/604/906) to defray costs on other components of my resto. I was able to source the rare "female" splined CV/Lobro flanges, and so far my measurement indicate it'll all bolt up using the standard 68 driveshafts.
Mike, I'll definitely do a photo essay on what I've done and take some decent photos of the SWB set up - probably a holiday break job :)
