Need help identifying cams

Can anyone help to identify these cams?

The numbers stamped into the castings are:

???.105.103.??
???.105.104.??

My guess is they were 901.105.103 and 104.01. That would put them most likely from a 1965 911?

Engraved in the cams is "WEB 134 149"

My guess is they are the Web Cam RSR Sprint grind.

Each one of the cam lobes and main bearings has an oil passage. Each one of the main bearings has an oil groove machined in it. I have never seen the grooves in a cam before.

They are 47-mm, 3-bearing cams.

How can you tell if the cam was made to go with MFI? Does the LH end have 4-bolt holes?

My best guess is these are 1965 cams reground to RSR Sprint specs.

The first 911 cams were indeed center-lubricated and had oil holes in each cam lobe.

901.105.109.01 CAMSHAFT >> 0903069 Left
901.105.110.01 CAMSHAFT >> 0903069 Right

They were used up through engine # 0903069 which should actually have been built for an early 1966 model year car. But, those part numbers don't match what seems to remain on your camshafts.

I had heard that Porsche continued to use center-lubricated camshafts on all out racing engines for several years after switching to spray bar lubrication for street engine's valve gear. I think some of those racing engines had both spray bars and center-lubricated cams.

I'm afraid I don't know the part numbers of those racing cams.

I talked to Web Cam today and they appear to be internally oiled RSR Sprint Cams. I'm going to send them to Web Cam so they can be verified. According to Web Cam, these are very rare camshafts.

I imagine RSR cams are very rare. Center-lubricated Solex cams (and the chain housings to feed them) are rare enough.

Laurie Dunlap (VP at Web Cam) told me that Web Cam can "cannon drill" a camshaft to create a center-lubricated camshaft.

3 journal RSR would be rare.

Did WebCam say what the grooves in the mains were for?

Aren't 3 bearing RSR cams just 906 cams? The groves are a way of converting spray lube back to center oil lube. In 74 RSR cams had different profiles and were small journal 4 bearing. Gled

Frank - I asked Laurie about the grooves in the mains and she said the grooves and the oil passages are all part of the internal oiling of the cam.

I have several sets of factory RSR, 906, and Solex center oiler's and have never seen the grooves before.

But there's a lot that I haven't seen.

First time for me too. I'm going to send them to Laurie at Web Cam for a full evaluation.
