I have separated the motor from the pump. motor spins fine. pump was seized, probably from crusty washer fluid. took pump apart & freed
Question: is there any lube on the gears or the metal plate that acts as a thrust washer? & if so, which grease?

I did this many years ago and I think I used Vaseline........
Dumb question but will this actually buy you anything other than potentially clogging up the system? I ask because it's a positive displacement pump and the gears (and their associated meshing) are actually what move the fluid from the reservoir to the lines and on to the squirters. Windshield washer fluid, normally similar to Windex, is a quasi-degreaser and would remove the Vaseline or any other lubricant in short order I would think. I simply cleaned my pump gears up really well and everything started working again but I didn't use a lubricant since the soapy nature of the washer fluid would be enough I'd think. Any thoughts?

Just a thought, I wouldn't use anything that would impede the cleaning of the windshield.Shaft on the motor should be okay with a little lub, but nothing in the pump that is common with the cleaning.
