RED is BACK!
Anybody noticed that there are a lot of red Porsches in ads these days...it's been 30+ years since the heydays of Guards Red on every 911, and every 'For Sale' short hood with an Earl Scheib repaint. But now the color seems to be back...and I am happy about it!:)

My first 2 Porsches were red....an 83 SC and a 57 cab...both owned while in Anchorage, AK. When I moved to California in 91, I bought a pristine 72 T in Bahia Red that became my first R Gruppe hot rod. Its engine had been reworked to be a 2.7L MFI, and I mounted a ducktail and front/rear FG bumpers. RS flares were installed, and a front oil cooler with factory hard lines feeding it. It was a blast to drive, and I took it to the first R Gruppe gathering in Cambria in 2000. Here is a pic from either 2000 or 2001 when the Gruppe took a ride to a local winery.

Here are my first 2 red Porsches...the 57 Cab was greatly admired by young guys when I stopped at a light in downtown Anchorage...'Cool car' they would say. It was a fun cruiser for going down to Girdwood along the Turnagain Arm with spectacular scenery in every direction. The 83 SC was on 5.5" Mahle mags with studded snow tires for some fun winter driving...which lasts at least 6 months in Anchorage. I was a little 'trimmer' in 89 when these shots were taken.
