Just curious why they have one in the San Juan Islands? Is that more of a personal use scenario as of course it's fairly inaccessible there!

Take a look at the demographics in the San Juan Islands. A huge number of the early investors in Microsoft have homes there. It's also very close to Seattle where money seems to be just falling out of the trees.

I used to live in Seattle. Seattle I understand. But there are a lot of islands in this chain, and not that much foot traffic.
And not that easy to get to.

But it would be a great place to visit! Maybe one of the owners lives there during the summer? Deductions and purpose?

1% marketing doesn't require foot traffic or easy access. I've been there, and I get it. I'm sure not everyone else will.

Thanks to those who appreciate the "Wheels of Fortune" article. It was the hardest story I've ever written, requiring three weeks of research and countless rewrites.

I still don't know about the pure business logic of Friday Harbor. Next time I fly a seaplane in there I will check it out.

It's a very small market. But these cars appropriately advertised are the draw so location itself isn't that important. But this is analogous to putting a showroom in Nantucket (though Nantucket has a far bigger draw than the San Juans which is pretty regional. Some people come up from LA, and some of the Seattle folks though there's a big Sun Valley pull too)

My money is still in one of the owners having a summer place there beforehand!

But they have a great eye for buildings and cars so not criticizing just curious.
