WTB: Solex Airbox

I found one! Thanks to this board for leads.

I've converted my car to back to Solex Carburetors after breathing through Weber 40 IDA since circa 1966 and it runs better than ever! Thanks Ed, Weldon, Paul, Kenik, Casey, and Robert for parts, service, and knowledge. I am down to the last bit that I need, the airbox.

Someone, anyone, please dig through your collection of rare and unobtainable parts, find a Solex airbox and consider selling it to an enthusiast that needs it for their personal car. I've resorted to pathetic begging.

I have parts to trade, or cash, or combination.

Good Luck my friend. i lost the bidding on a recent one and it sold for 6125.00 incomplete.. Unobtanium is an under statement

So that's at least 3 guys in this community who need air filter assemblies.

Not that I'm the patron Saint of Solex but I may be able to help you poor souls.

But there's a catch.

I need snorkels before I can sell my surplus housings.

The internet just blew up with searches for "Solex snorkel for sale"

I would have to say that the snorkel is the rarest piece of this pie. Is it strange that I get excited looking at a pile of sheet metal? I think I need some help.

914/6 HE/headers were NLA. Not anymore. German HE/headers for 356 were NLA. Same story. The fact of the matter is that a lot of the "hard parts" for our cars are being made again. Capricorn Racing will build an entire 4 cam 356 engine. Contact Manfred Strohle and get an RS54 BMW engine which is one of the rarest things ever on two wheels. These are but two examples of things that only a few years ago would have seemed unlikely to be available.

Eastern european craftsmen can make just about anything out of metal. From my experience with vintage BMW's, plunk down enough money I can build an entire motorcycle.
BMW have had Porsche covered on the "historical" parts business because they had a head start and took it very seriously. Mobile Tradition made life a lot easier.

Asking $6000. Airbox is complete, no rust and in very good shape. Date stamp reads 12/65.
