Never notice that my bumper guard brackets are at different heights, the one on the right is about a 1/4" higher and it became obvious when I installed the Amco bar. Any ideas on what may have caused this and what can be done to fix this?

i noticed a slight difference in hight swb vs lwb... it is possible to convert a swb into a lwb corner by cutting the wheel arch edge and changing the side bracket.
Ok, I see what you are saying, the right side is missing the whole and has an extra "L" bracket on the left side and is welded to the slam panel. Was this a SWB part that was used without the hole? Left side is not welded to the slam panel like the right side.Quote:

Found this picture on the Samba of a right rear bumper and is also has the "L" bracket on it like mine, so is this correct, maybe a replacement part? Samba ad said the part came off of a '73 Carrera RS.

Makes sense that this was a 73 change due to bumper impact laws. One of those details I've never really noticed,,,interesting.
