Fund Transfer

What method is recommended for transferring funds safely for a long distance car purchase? PayPal? I'm in CA and the car is at a dealer in NY.

That is true, there are escrow services one can use, I've not used any of those.

Probably worth the flight cost to do it in person and check the car out...

I have only bought one car without seeing it in person, 68 912 SWT rusty, bought it for the SWT gear and to part it out, should have never cut it up!

If you have a PPI performed by a reputable source they can advise whether the seller is legit or not... in other words, if the inspection is good, there shouldn't be any reason not to wire or DD.

And with dealers, sometimes there are other possible payment options. I once put a car on American Express! (after calling them to advise a five-figure transaction was about to happen)

The local Porsche dealer did the PPI today. All good. They're going fix a couple of minor wear items before transport. Newer car - 2012 997 Turbo Manual.

I wish I didn't tear up my AMEX card last year - I can see its good for something.

Absolutely correct. Think of the airfare as an insurance premium payment.
