Always the bridesmaid, never the bride

While researching my 66 911 I've found where it came in 2nd, back to back, in The Al Hussein Rumman Hillclimb.

Beat by a Lotus and then a 904. Always a bridesmaid. You can see both cars in this picture, the 904 and the 911 behind it.

The Hussein 904 was 904 008, one of only 4 with the 2 Lt, 225 HP 8 cylinder engine....

Indeed the King invited him for a weekend of road racing and water skiing. The Baron wrote about the whole trip in Christophorus No. 67/February 67.

Since it was the King's hillclimb the Royal Auto Club of Jordan keeps pretty good records. They still run it. Maybe after I restore it I can bring it back there and run it again, how cool would that be?

Some good info, unfortunately the pages focused more on the the 904, than the 911. I guess it's like the hot blond at the bar getting all the attention, hard for anyone to see much else. But thanks for reminding me about the Baron book, I think I need to re-read it, it's been a few years.
