I’m looking at various tire options and was just going to buy 4 Vredestein 185/70R15 or HR15 tires but was wondering if a 205/70R15 would fit on the back.
I’m running Maxilite 7R rear rims with 20mm spacers so I’m not sure if I could run a 205/70 without having an issue with rubbing on a stock ‘71E. I don’t plan to do any body work (roll or flare the rear fenders) so I’m wondering if I can fit these tires without body mods with my current rims / spacers.
Any advice would be appreciated.

It is the best tyre in the size 185/70VR15 for a 911.
They look right and handle right. your car would have fitted them front and rear. Pirelli made these again at the request of Porsche who have tested the tyres and homologated them with the N.
In 73 on wider rear wheels the RS and Carrera fitted 215/60VR15 CN36 Pirelli which we hope to have back in stockj soon, but you should raelly have a wider rear wheel to gain any benefit from that wider rear tyre.

I ended up going back to Vredestein 185/70HR15’s on all 4 corners. I’ll look at the Pirelli CN36 in 215/60 size when they become available (are the now?). I do have 7R’s on the back but I’ve still got 185’s on them for now.
Down the road I’ll probably move to the CN36 but the cost was prohibitive with all the other things that I needed to do to get the car going. One day I’ll be made of money…

Have 205/60-15 on 6” wide Fuchs wheels in my stock 69 with no problems. Speedometer is as accurate as when I had 165/80-15.

the side wall height of a 165R15 should be 132mm
a 185/70R15 should be 129.5mm so pretty much the same.
the side wall height of a 205/60R15 should be 123mm so a bit less than half an inch in radius! so nearly 3/4" in diameter. I would say that is going to make a difference to your gearing and speedo.
And a 69 car will be dreadful on the road on a 205/60R15 tyre. wrong carcass structure. miles too wide. tracking, heavy, numb steering, massive loss of the progressive handling that is a big part of the joy of an early car.
However mistakes get made. a 6" rim is ering on the wide side for a 165r15. (though you could stretch it on in some coutries) However the 185/70VR15 CN36 can fit upto a 6.5" rim

I have seen the 185/70-15 size CN36 used on standard 7” Fuchs w no issues. I am shopping for tires now for my 73 which has 7” wheels on all four corners. The only hesitation I have on the CN36 tires is the cost.Quote:
