Seal under back door window guide

As many know, the Targa has a different door window guide - diagram #2. The rear window guide has a small chrome lip on the end that rests on top of the door. I want to confirm that there is no rubber seal that sits between the door and the chrome tip. Or perhaps something like dum dum was used. My car didn’t show signs of anything when I removed the guide. Seems a bit harsh to install it directly onto the painted door top?
