2.2 rod bolts
I just finished a re-rebuild of my 2.2S motor and had trouble with new supposedly oem rod bolts. I couldn’t find Verbus brand as original so I bought the ones I found sold as oem by Autohaus AZ and probably most suppliers . They are too long and hit the cylinder bottoms, oh crap! I also discovered that ARP 2.4-2.7 bolts fit 2.2 rods now as ARP states. I previously read that 2.2 rods had to be drilled to use them. 2.2 bolts have a shank that is a few thousandths smaller than 2.4-2.7 bolts so I assume ARP has reduced the shank diameter compared to earlier versions. Good news for anyone building a 2.2. I found used Verbus bolts in the motor even though it had been rebuilt before I got it with no road miles, an expensive ticking time bomb defused.

We just got rod bolts from the dealer, they are not Verbus anymore. And the package with all the verbage and bar code doesn't have the Porsche triangle. Gosh, I wonder where they're made?

I had this problem with ARP rod bolts while doing the clearance checks on a 2.5 long stroke motor I built. The original 2.2 case was resized bringing the case halves too close to the crank centerline. Using the correct size copper base gaskets moved the cylinders out far enough to clear the cylinders and give the correct deck height.
