Solar Productions 911s ?
I was just thumbing through the book "A French Kiss with Death" about Steve McQueen and the making of the movie "LeMans" . I was wondering if anyone knew the whereabouts of any of the cars that were loaned by the factory to Solar Productions. The author mentions that there were several 911s that went to various "important" people involved in the production, including one of course to McQueen himself...
It would be neat to find out where these cars wound up. I'm sure the factory would have some record...
Any ideas ?

That's a GREAT question Napels...
We all know of McQueen's Slate Gray '69-S that his son Chad now owns...
We know the whereabouts of other 'cool' (signifacant) 911's in the world...
Richard Price's first customer '73 RS Carrera #0016 "Paris Display Car"
Both owners of the August '73 Road & Track 911-S vs 911 RSR road test cars
Ginther's Le Mans ST... and customer 914-6's
Peter Gregg's race cars AND street 911-S's
... and the list goes on
But what happened to the (at least) two new U.S. spec Slate Gray '70-S's McQueen had for the filming ????? ... often wondered this myself ... strange they never showed up on the radar in our small community...
I realize they were 'street cars' and probably sold within a short time .. BUT, you'd think someone would've pick up on the name 'Solar' even back then..

Jerry Seinfeld owns the (or one of the) solar 917s in the film. He had it at Rennsport and enjoyed talking to everyone about it. Like all the 917s there, it was drop dead gorgeous!
I recall a lengthy thread (on Pelican?) about the slate 911 Chad owns not being the one in the movie. There was a name mentioned as to who now owns the actual car - just can't recall it right now.
