I dont post here too often but would appreciate your help/advice. Clearly ALOT to be confirmed and verified, however I believe I ve located a 73 RS lightweight, the car is in need of total resto, not so much in terms of rust but it has crach damage.
It does have race pedigree, Panamerica Carrera etc..I know this is utterly blind but if the numbers and history started to tie up, whats a resto RS worth?

Fully restored? Numbers matching? Sky's the limit; a quarter of a million dollars isn't out fo the question based on recent sales. A non-numbers matching, solid resto is still worth over $100K at today's prices. Still, if the car is a wreck, you may end up with a break even project.
Were you asking what you should pay for the car? That would require pics and much more info.
I'd ask Bill Noon as he could provide some experience.
If the car has spent time in the UK - beware.
Jack Tordoff's old lightweight was damaged in an accident, and reshelled. The old shell 'reputedly' sold to an apprentice who, 20 years on, rebuilt the shell - because the commision number belonged to the original chassis no. who had the original car? The story of 'two cars' from the same chassis number is sadly not limited to this example.
If a restored lightweight RHD were to come to market, I'd guess easilly north of £200,000 if it had provinence (matching numbers etc.) and condition - race damage is not an issue PROVIDED the repair / restoration is carried out by a 'named' restorer - a campaign history is to many buyers a hot button.
LHD - Autofarm sold the ex. Juan Birrazzi car with a non original engine (they'd put a 2.8RSR in ten'ish years earlier then swapped for an original but non matching 2.7 RS engine) for £130k about 12 months ago, I believe.
Check the chassis number with the comission / build number to be sure - David Gilhooley (the PCGB 2.7RS register secretary) has all this information for the UK imported cars - as does Geoff (Jefff?) Moyes at AFN (now Porsche Cars GB) in Guildford.
For a non UK car, Porsche (through Porsche GB warranty department) should be able to answer the question.
BUT with these cars - always be aware. Unless *all* the boxes are ticked, it'll be a sod to realise the value from.

As pmjt says there are a few "dodgy" RSs out there. Josh at Autofarm keeps a database of these cars so should have some idea about this one. Contact all the the other people mentioned to build up a picture of the car and its history
