Specs of 1971/72 2.4L short stroke MFI racing motor?
In Bruce Anderson's book, I have seen these specs on the 2.4SS:
Engine: 87.5mm x 66mm, 2380cc; I46, E40 (valves); I38, E38 (ports), 10.3:1, MFI, twin plug. Peak power at 230HP@7800RPM
Cams:
In opens 104 BTDC
In closes 104 BTDC
Ex opens 100 BBDC
Ex closes 80 ATDC
I assume this means the motor ran on 906 cams just like all of the other early short stroke race motors.
Does anyone know these specs for the MFI:
stack bore (top and bottom)
TB bore
space cam specs
Are these specs the same as the '69S MFI? The reason I am asking is that I have pretty much settled on this config for the motor I am going to put in the '69S. I am getting paranoid about wearing out the numbers matching 1R case, so starting a new motor now seems like a good idea.
My biggest question is how the '69S MFI will adapt to this configuration. I read once that the 005 pump is difficult and expensive (more than later pumps) to customize and I don't want to do anything that isn't reversible. If anyone can answer these questions, I'd greatly appreciate it.
