Has anyone tried the M&K race muffler "stinger tips" on an early car??
I'm curious how they work with MFI - and how the LOUD factor compares to a sport muffler... or is it more like megaphones?
Looks like a GREAT product from a weight (3lbs), price and simplicity standpoint. Please post pics and impressions of any installs.

I've heard they are VERY loud. On the other hand, 'Loud Pipes Save Lives', right? :D
If they are anything like the stinger I used to have on my VW, they are VERY loud. Still, the look like fun!
(edit) I was just thinking that it should be just like two modern triumph 3 cylinder motorcycles running side by side. Since I have one (a Speed Triple) which is about 1000cc and run a similar exhaust (straight through can) on it, my guess is that they will sound fantastic.
Those look pretty cool, are not that expensive, and fit on stock HE boxes (versus most that are made for headers). I tried a set simillar to these from Smart Racing (phase 9) -- albeit much more pricey. They were quite loud at WOT, but at idle and lower RPMs not too bad...no louder than my Ducati...!!! ;)
I also saw their 911R set on the site. I wonder if these are made to exit under the bumperttes? Did not look any different in the photo than the regular 2in2 out. Anyone know?
My guess is that the carb cars would run fine with them, but I have doubts about MFI working well. Also, even though they are light, I'd like to see their weight supported by something other than the heat exchangers. (edit) And yeah, I'd bet they're really loud. Great for short drives, doubt I'd want to listen to 'em on a 500 mile run.
they are 108 dbs wot at 50 feet. The reason for no brakets are that it would depend on if they were going on a 914-6 or an early 911 or later 911. They sound good But not IMHO for every day use and hey I make them
108 Dbs is way over the limit at racing circuits...
Jared- Nice meeting you this past weekend. We have a set of loaner M&K Race versions mufflers. They should be on their way back from Texas soon. Once they are in, I don't have a problem forwarding them to you so you can have a first hand experience prior to committing.

Rob- You are correct...well over most track limits however, Ben (mb911) is more than willing to create custom units based on need.
Michael- The 'R' version photo is a stock photo...good eye :), the tips are at more of an angle than the 2 in 2 out (which is the picture used twice on our site).
Jerry - Yeah, damn roads were all ice up here last Sat. - tried to come down, but turned around and came home to work on the car. I would love to try those 'mufflers' out. Many said the standard sport muffler would be too loud; I think it sounds very good on my car, but not too loud. Of course, my hearing is going south from all that rock and roll music too ...
