Bosch distributor 911 RS

I am searching for the right Bosch inditification numbers for the distributor for 2.7RS with MFI and 019 injection pump ,who can help ?

Struggling with a gap between 2800 RPM and 3200 RPM .Motor is rebuild and we changed the pump because we thought the failure was there but nothing changed .

Timing is oke , new spark plugs mounted compression checked etc
The only thing left is to test the injection plugs but I am not very positive if this can be the problem.

Is there someone who has a good sugestion ore had same problems ?

I would be very nice to solve this at the end.

There are 2 of them, actually.

First version:
Bosch 0.231.169.011
Second version:
Bosch 0.231.184.004

The second series has "mirror image" points relative to the early version. As far as I know both work 100% great for these engines.

If your dist isn't one of these, it should have been restamped to note that it is set up for a 911/83 engine.. or it is the wrong one.

yup 231.184.004 is correct. I bought an extra one and installed it to see if there was any difference to the original I had in my car. No noticable difference.

The transition response around 3,000 rpm is a problem if the system is not tuned properly. Do a search on MFI here and/or at Pelican. There is also a link to a good thread on this site's links page. The problem could be the mid-range richness adjustment of the pump, pump timing, the butterfly valves, the distributor, or a host of other things. There is a very specific sequence of steps (must be followed in order) to set up the system, and it's described in a Porsche booklet called Check, Measure, Adjust. It's available as a PDF on the Pelican site, maybe here as well.

Hi, over the years I have had 3 2.4S engines, 2. 2.4 E engines and 3. 2.7 RS engines. Even after correct adjustment they all, more or less suffert problems between 2800 and 3200.

I'm rather sure that the rott cause to this is the "crome spot" that is created on the space cam with in the MFI-pump. I have a 2.2 S curve that show this exact wear. You get this "crome spot" when driving the car over the years, with maybee not so good oil. In my world the only way around the problem is to get a new MFI-curve.

Some time in December-January/73 Porsche superceded to the newer distributor. The vac canisters are different. The vac ports on the manifolds recieved restrictors at this point in time as well. All this helped with that particular hessition problem or fluttering of the vac canister. Make sure your applications are matched.
