anyone in memphis area?
Is there anyone out here in the Memphis area? The company I work for is pushing me to relocate so I would be closer to our client. I have had to visit the area several times for work, meetings and such, and despite all of its obvious issues find it an interesting area to visit (it probably helps that I’m a huge blues fan, fan of old soul music as well as a civil war era history buff). Despite all of that though, I wanted to get some opinions of what it’s like to live there, and areas to check out. The more I look at it, the more I am interested in Southaven and Olive Branch, Mississippi areas, but then again I don’t know a whole lot about the other areas. What areas would those of you around there recommend? The other big question is how is the local early p car scene? How are the shops, which ones do you recommend, and which do you really trust? Do they really know early cars, carburation etc. do they know the nuances and are they familiar with 356s, 912s and 911s (especially 356 or 912 engines with solexes) How are shop rates? How far is it to good twisty roads?
I look forward to hearing any feed back you can offer.

I meet MIke Wilkes of Memphis Motor Werks 901-757-1099 at this years Porsche Palooza. He has been around these cars for years and seem to be quite knowageable. If you give him a call he should be able to give you answers to many of your questions.

Thanks Bob! A friend and 912E owner who lived in Memphis for a few years referred me to Memphis Motor Works as well, but since the E is a different engine, and is not carbed, i wanted to see what others had to say. (i cant seem to find anyone in columbus that knows how to tune solexes, i figured it would be much tougher to find someone down there!)
Are you located in the area? If so, it would be great to have fellow early car owners to drive around and hang out with!
