when I drove my stock 70 from austin to boulder last feb. I did an overnight with temps /windchill close to 10degrees and low fuel level and the next morning it did not start even with my OE cold start in place. I had to pull the mfi air cleaner and put gas down the stack and then it started right up. Pls. try to start one of these cars after an over night with below zero and let us know if it starts (cold start in place) thanks. How did Porsche figure these would start?
No Cold start or hand throttle on the 64-66 cars that had solex's just lots of pumping a little feathering and throw some luck in there for good measure.It got down to 16 today mine didn't want to start it took a little coaxing
oh early model did not catch that. here was what i was told to do with cold start carbs. it always worked for me.
1) press the gas pedal all the way to the floor
2) slowly let it all the way back up (slowly)
3) press the gas pedal half way down and hold then crank the starter
4) repeat steps 1-3 again if it does not start.
5) if it does not start after step 4 then wait for 10min. and try 1-3 again
