I just got back my certificate of authenticity from Porsche for my 1973 911S.
It took about a month. The good news is that all the numbers are matching. I've got a question about one of the two only options (sport seats were ordered but not in the car now). One option is listed as: 16" Cast Wheel 'Cup' Design. What are those wheels?
I think the 16" Cup description are wrong, but I am not certain. Lot of faults in the COA's unfortunatly. I think the faults are due to several options through the years are given the same number. Maybe you can call them and dubble check?

A quick search of the Wheel Enhancement site for "16" Cup Design" revealed 8 wheel designs, none of which came on a 73 S. The same search on The Samba website in the Porsche parts section revealed nothing for sale. I'm not a member of Pelican Parts and I have not figured out how to search the classifieds as a non member.
I tend to concur that the "Cup Design" description is erroneous.
I don't believe there were ever 16" wheels available on 911's in 1973. I can only remember 16" wheels becoming available in 1978 when the 911SC came out.
The folks at Porsche North America are not very familiar with early 911 equipment. A fews years back when my wife was trying to surprise me with a Certificate of Authenticity as a gift, the Porsche office kept on calling her about questions on how my '73 911E came equipped.
It came from Porsche it must be right. I guess you have the most rare Porsche ever mfg. a 1973 with the super secret 16 wheels not even put on the team racing cars or Porsche family cars. I would put this car up for sale with the COA at the next Pebble Beach concours and ask no less than $2MM :D
