Core 911/83 engines run any where from 20-30K (or more ?). If you find a 911/83 correct case you can build a RS engine. P/C can be found, cases and pumps different story. This is the heart of the RS engine. TBs/ Stacks are same as 2.4S and can be found (though luck), cams are S MFi cams, no biggie here either. There is only one 019 pump however.
This pump should go back on a genuine RS not a RS replica. For the latter you want a built-up pump. It will run the same, but imagine a perfect genuine RS with a non matching 019 pump. Certainly would not fetch top dollar.
Genuine RS value 150K plus, very good replica 50K (maybe), good RS spec pump for replica 2-2.5K, the real macoy $10K. You get the idea?
It is all relative. Are RSR seats and wheels really worth that much? For the right car yes. Has anyone seen the prices lately for Weber IDA 46s?
Not trying to be snobby here just putting things in perspective.
I was keeping this pump as a spare but maybe someone would need it to properly finish off a RS that has lost its pump over the years.
For more perspective consider this. My car has a correct, numbered RS motor in it that was supplied by the factory in 1988 and was driven sparingly until I acquired the car in France 3 years ago. Shortly after I brought the car stateside (and in a vastly better economic climate) I was contacted by a gentleman who was restoring an RS. He offered me $40,000 sight unseen for my engine for his project. I don't know what normal 2.4 liter S engines were selling for, but I'm certain it wasn't close to that....FWIW.
I'm building an RS clone engine on a 7R replacement case. I have all RS correct parts *except* the MFI pump. When I sell the engine, I expect to take a hit of several thousand dollars on the price due to the pump being incorrect. Had I imagined a genuine RS pump would become available, I'd have held out for it.
$10K sounds like a lot, but then so does a quarter million bucks for a good RS. As a portion of the value, I think the pump is priced correctly.
