ID this engine lid hinge

Hi,

Can anyone ID this engine lid hinge please. It has an extra tab on it and is the RH hinge and therefore it is not for the strut.

Is it very early, those who had a spring instead of strut? The spring was mounted to the bracket and towards the rear, atached to another bracket with sevaral holes for adjusting the spring. This was on the right side of the car.

After whale tails and A/C condensers were invented for the post long hood generation the factory had to start supplying a mounting tab for the right side hood strut that was needed to hold up all that extraneous weight. What you have there is the new superseded style right side hinge. Sorry, I know you were hoping you had a rare, trick racing part there!!!

I think Ed is right. I looked at the picture of an early hinge yesterday, and the tab for the spring is further towards the bottom of the bend. The picture can be found in Dr. Johnsons 911 resto book. I would have liked to have that hinge for my alu lid, because of the weight of the rear viper, but would the lid POP open and get damaged with two struts?

John, if you had two normal struts on that alu lid, (even with wiper), you'd have to jump up and down on it to get it closed!!! Not a pretty sight:D I have an alu lid also (no wiper though) I use the old throwaway struts from normal lids.
