Based on the car having black metal guards it is probably a late 1972 production (73 MY) with MFI. The car looks great but has no options(Air, SR, Wheel Well Trim etc) which is unusual for the late 72-73 cars

Actually no. The early 1973's had black bumper guards. Later on the US models got the bigger rubber bumper guards. The toolkit is another give away that this car is a 73'.
The question was does it have MFI or CIS and based upon the fact that the car has the black metal guards making it an early 1973 I would guess the car was MFI.
The black metal bumper guards were on late 1972 production but 1973 MY US 911s. I had a very early 73 911S production number 9113310005-15 (dont remember exact number) that was a 9/72 production date with the black metal guards. My 10/72 911S has all rubber guards so I would guess that the black metal guards were only around for a very short time in 1972.. Also the 911T CIS injected cars were often referred to as 1973 1/2 and always had the big all rubber guards.
I had 73S #43, it had the black painted bumper guards. I guess it would be interesting to know what the serial number on the car is.
As far as the toolkit goes.. welll... I doubt that it's the original one based on the black bumper guards...which indicate a very early car. Early to mid 73's have the clasp kit rather than the string tie kit. Owned several 73's including #43S, and all had clasp kit's.
